Dell Part Number Lookup Guide

An easy way to find a Dell EMC part number

Dell part numbers are unique identifiers assigned to specific components or products by Dell

When maintaining or upgrading Dell servers, locating the correct Dell part numbers for components like hard drives, memory modules, power supplies, and other internal parts is crucial. This Dell part number lookup guide is designed to empower you to find these numbers on your own, without the need for any additional tools.

How to Find a Dell EMC Part Number?

When looking for the Dell part number on hard drives, memory (RAM), power supplies (PSUs), network cards, and other Dell component follow these simple steps:

Find the Sticker and Locate the Part Number

The Dell part number is typically found on a label or sticker attached to the server part. This sticker is usually located on the top, on the side, or the front, depending on the part, model and design.

On the sticker, look for a series of numbers and letters starting with 'DP/N' followed by a sequence, for example, 'DP/N 0XXXXX'. This code is the Dell part number. It's distinct from other numbers like the serial number or model number.

Generally, any removable server component will have a Dell part number sticker attached to an accessible surface, designed to be visible once installed or with minimal disassembly.

Dell Part Number on Hard Drives

The Dell part number is typically found on a label or sticker attached to the hard drive. This sticker is usually located on the top or the front of the drive, depending on the model and design.

Dell Part Number on Memory

The Dell part number is often found on a label or sticker on the side facing outwards when installed in the server. This is typically visible without needing to remove the module from its slot.

Dell Part Number on Power Supplies

Look for a sticker on the PSU's surface visible when installed or on the side that faces outward from the back of the server.

Dell Part Number on Network Cards

The sticker with the Dell part number can usually be found on the top edge or side of the card, visible when the card is seated in its slot.

Additional Tips

If the sticker has worn away or if the part number is not visible, use the server’s service tag on the Dell Support website to find a list of all original components and their part numbers.

Remember to keep a log of all part numbers for easy reference during maintenance or when ordering replacements. Write down the Dell part number exactly as it appears. This part is crucial for identifying and ordering the exact replacement or upgrade part.

Use Our Parts Finder Tool as an Additional Resource

If your need extends beyond just locating the Dell part number, and you're searching for parts compatible with a specific server, then our Parts Finder tool can assist. This tool complements the manual lookup process described above, helping you quickly identify suitable parts for your server, network, or storage system. Simply select the brand, for example, Dell, and then your server model, to receive a list of compatible components.
